INTERIOR DESIGN “LINGO”

This guide will help clear up any confusion with the “lingo” I’ve used, so that you feel comfortable with the process.

DELIVERABLES:
Carrie’s main goal is always to have her clients feel comfortable with the process. In each Flat-Fee Design option she spells out what to expect and when.

RENDERINGS:
This refers to any form of drawing or presentation of a conceptual idea.

CONCEPT BOARD:
This is basically a visualization tool to help you keep track of all the various elements in your room design. Carrie offers suggestions for style, shape, color and dimensions so you have a clear goal and plan of action. Of course you can get creative on your own, but with Carrie’s guide in hand you have the confidence to step out of your proverbial box!

FLOOR PLAN:
Based on the room measurements that you provide, Carrie will produce a scaled floor plan that includes all your elements. Carrie also pays careful attention to what is not there, too! Traffic flow and work plans are a key feature in Carrie’s designs. You will receive your detailed floor plan in a pdf file and a hard copy in your final Room Design Reference Kit.

3-D PERSPECTIVE:
With the room measurements that you provide to Carrie, she will produce a 3-Dimensional perspective rendering for your room that includes all your elements. This rendering will put your vision into a clear picture that you can embrace moving forward with confidence. You will receive your 3-D Perspective in a pdf file and a hard copy in your final Room Design Reference Kit.
Note: Each Room Design Package includes (1) 3-D rendering in the perspective that Carrie deems most valuable. Additional perspectives are available for a fee. Ask Carrie for details.

ELEVATIONS:
An elevation is a 2-Dimensional rendering of a particular wall area. In the case of kitchen and bath designs these are necessary for depicting cabinetry details. For your Kitchen Design Essentials these elevations are a valuable tool in getting apples-to-apples bids from your contractors and cabinet resource. Of course your selected cabinet provider will be responsible for final measurements and ordering, but Carrie’s elevations are a great tool!

BUDGET OUTLINE:
There can be so many elements involved in a room design that you think about, but many you forget to include in your budget. Carrie’s Budget Outline helps you get a sense of what a realistic budget entails. She will give you links for details and pricing information on all the products she suggests, but your outline will include other elements and ballpark costs for them.

DIY:
Do-It-Yourself.

ZOOM:
A free video conferencing application. You will receive a direct link to use zoom in all of the scheduling emails with the exception of your “Chat with Carrie.” See www.zoom.us for more information.

HOUZZ:
Online platform for inspiration images and so much more! If you are not already on HOUZZ, you’ll need to open a free account. Just type into the search bar any topics you need inspiration images for (be sure to select PHOTOS or you will just get product ads). You have the option to save images to an “ideabook”. If you are working on a few different projects, its a good idea to separate your images into specific ideabooks to stay organized. You can share your ideabooks with Carrie so she can get an idea of what you like. Bailiwick Interior Design is on HOUZZ, too! Check us out!

PINTEREST:
Similar to HOUZZ, but you can “pin” an image to a specific “board”. Depending how your brain logic works, you may prefer one to the other. It’s harder to stay focused on Pinterest because you can easily get off track with another topic. But you can also share your inspiration images by inviting Carrie to your board(s).
